Film4 launches on-air competition to find the best long form ad of 2008

Because the best adverts… are great films.

Film4 wanted to celebrate the mini epic – adverts that borrow from the values of film and take their time to tell great stories. Adverts that stick with you. Ads that make you think. Ads you want to see again.

We asked consumers what their favourite ad of 2008 was

A shortlist of the best 12 long form (60 seconds or longer ads) was created by a panel of advertising experts including creative directors, advertisers, media and advertising agencies. They chose the ads they thought the most creative, filmic and that tell great stories.

What's in it for the consumers?

Consumers were driven to channel4.com/film4ads to choose their favourite ad of the year from a shortlist, and to enter the competition. Entrants were put in a free prize draw to win a top-of-the-range Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV and home cinema system. The competition ran from 15th – 30th January 2009.
