Break Innovation: Age UK Gogglebox contextual ad

When Age UK came to us to amplify their “No one should have no one” campaign in Christmas 2015 we thought who better to get involved than the nation’s favourite grandparents, Gogglebox’s June and Leon. Age UK wanted to harness the power of Gogglebox and create something truly unique that would not only reach an entirely new audience for them but most importantly raise awareness of this highly emotive issue.

June and Leon talk about loneliness and the thought of being alone, in a way only they can, which resonated hugely with our Gogglebox viewers. The spot caused a huge reaction on social and help drive up donations and volunteering for Age UK across the Christmas period and beyond.

Esther Jackson, the marketing and fundraising director at Age UK, said: "Gogglebox is an incredibly powerful medium and we hope this collaboration will help us to highlight the issue of loneliness with a wide audience in a way that resonates and creates a real emotional connection.

"Loneliness can be devastating and mounting evidence shows it has a serious impact on a person’s mental and physical health. Through our campaign, and with the help of June and Leon, we aim to tackle this issue and provide older people with vital support and companionship, which can be life-changing."
